I talked about it in a few recent articles, some people's main strategy is to accumulate contacts and move around to make themselves visible. It's surprising, but it can give results, we saw it again recently. Some of these people called themselves LION or LInkedIn Open Networker, highlighting on their profiles that they accepted any invitation, without any filter. LinkedIn had set a limit of 32,000 direct contacts. It went back down to 30,000 and LinkedIn automatically deleted contacts from those who had too many. To the LIONs who complained, LinkedIn explained that these huge networks were disrupting the proper functioning of the platform and that now was not the time to suspend this limit nor to raise it.
Dismantling of CRM? I've had the “new platform” of LinkedIn for at least 3 years and I Email Data still see profiles every week that still have the old interface. This “new interface” offers CRM functionalities on the profiles of its contacts. These CRM functionalities still allow you to tag your contacts (assign them a keyword), annotate your contacts and schedule reminders: This section no longer always appears on profiles, you sometimes have to wait. The “reminder” function is being removed. It would be a question of Microsoft incorporating its own system here.
All these changes send a warning signal: LinkedIn cannot be the platform where you save your contacts. Remember that on social networks, you are not the owners of anything: you are only tenants. Rules can change, business models evolve and systems can be hacked. Salespeople don't like to prospect . By salespeople, I mean all those who have a commercial role, whether salaried salespeople or independents who, in fact, have a commercial role to make themselves known. Of course, we can't say that all salespeople don't like prospecting, but a vast majority don't like it.
